A man who printed counterfeit $50 dollar bills at his home will be sentenced in Magistrates' Court next month.

Berven O'Brien Lambert, 25, of Store Lane, in Sandys, admitted to making a $50 note without lawful authority between May 1 and May 15. He also admitted to trying to pass the note off as genuine and to giving the note to Pompano Beach Club knowing it to be fake.

The court heard that on the evening of May 12, Lambert went to the reception area of Pompano Beach Club and asked for a job application form as well as change for a $50 bill. After he left the area, the receptionist on duty noticed the bill was fake, however Lambert managed to jump into a van and leave the property.

On May 13 Police arrived at Lambert's home and cautioned him about the offence. Police took him to Somerset Police Station where he admitted to using a computer scanner at his home to make the counterfeit note.

On May 14 Police executed a search warrant and seized the printer and computer equipment from Lambert's home. They also seized a second counterfeit bill found in the bathroom, which Lambert maintains he didn't plan to use.

After pleading guilty, Lambert told the court: "I apologise to the Pompano Group. I learned my lesson." He will appear back in court for sentencing on August 22.
