Man who was shot at Devonshire club is 'stable'

Shot: Julian Washington

A 21-year-old man who was shot at the Mid-Atlantic Boat Club remains in stable condition at the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Julian Washington was shot just after midnight yesterday in the parking lot of the Devonshire club.

Police have yet to confirm he was the victim of the shooting but have said it was gang related.

The shooting happened 30 minutes before the murder of Raymond Troy (Yankee) Rawlins on Court Street in the Spinning Wheel nightclub.

Mr. Rawlins was shot nine times while sitting inside the nightclub, also on Court Street, at approximately 12.30 a.m.

Witnesses said he was bundled into a private car and rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1.08 a.m. He leaves behind eight children.

At a press conference yesterday on Court Street, Detective Chief Inspector Nicholas Pedro said: "The shooting took place 20 minutes before this so we are looking at it. At the moment, we are continuing to look at the inquiry."

Mr. Pedro said no one had been arrested as yet.

Meanwhile, Prince Barrington Edness is also is stable condition in ICU after being hit by bullets in the early hours of last Friday.

The 24-year-old — who is said to be a member of Parkside — was left with serious injuries after being hit in the area of Court and Elliot Streets.

Asked if the incidents were connected, Mr. Pedro said: "That is another matter that we are looking to determine if they are linked."
