Man's body found, identity is being checked
The body of a man was discovered on Field View Lane yesterday.
Police are awaiting the results of DNA testing before releasing the name of the deceased.
A spokesman said: "A few minutes after 12.30 p.m. on Wednesday, Police responded to a report of an incident that took place on Field View Lane in Pembroke.
"It appears that a member of the community came upon a man's lifeless body in an area outside of a house on that said road.
"Police are going through the process of identifying the body and as such no further information will be given until the next of kin have been notified."
The man who alerted Police told The Royal Gazette he believed the body had been in his back yard for several days. It was lodged between a low wall and shed.
Neighbours speculated the deceased had fallen from steps at a residence nearby, hit his head and landed between the wall and shed.
It took fireman, dressed in forensic suits and breathing apparatus, more than an hour to remove the body. The man was pronounced dead at the scene but a Police spokesman said forensic testing must now be done to determine the identity of the individual.
