March Limited donates $20,000 to Sloop Foundation, National Gallery
In honour of Bermuda's 400th anniversary March Limited doubled its donations to two local institutions.
The private investment company, which was set up in 1976, decided to donate $10,000 to both the Bermuda Sloop Foundation and the Bermuda National Gallery.
The Bermuda Sloop Foundation was chosen in honour of the 400th anniversary as well as the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge 2009,
Deputy Chairman, Tradl Engelhorn-Vechiatto, presented the Sloop donation to Alan Burland, the chairman of the charity. March director Angelika Milos presented the other cheque to Gary Phillips, chairman of the National Gallery.
To celebrate the occasion a dinner was held on June 12 at Beau Rivage with former Premier Sir John Swan as the guest speaker.
The 80 guests, which included Deputy Premier Paula Cox, former Cultural Affairs Minister Dale Butler and Opposition MP Bob Richards, donned Privateer hats to tour the harbour and see the Tall Ships while they were visiting the Island.
