Minister reports back from Caribbean green energy forum
Minister of Energy, Telecommunication and E-Commerce, Michael Scott, has returned to the Island after leading a Bermudian delegation to the Caribbean Renewable Energy Forum (CREF) in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
The conference, held to encourage the implementation of renewable energy sources across the Caribbean, ended on October 16 after two days of discussions and information sharing between policy makers from the region.
"There were a number of messages and ideas discussed at the conference that could be adapted for Bermuda," said Mr. Scott.
"One of the most important was the savings that we could achieve through the reduction of our dependency on foreign oil. When strong renewable energy and energy efficiency programmes are adopted in Bermuda, the savings are immense.
"The dollars saved can be used for job creation and investment."
