Minister so impressed with students' play, he takes entire cast to lunch
A Minister, impressed with the talents of six Middle School students, treated them to a lunch on the town last week.
Minister of Education, Randy Horton, treated six Dellwood Middle School students to lunch at the famed Harley's Restaurant at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess on Friday, May 30.
The students, DeAzha Chambers, Ashley Cabral, Tashel Bean, Bryan Cabral, Brandon Morris and Tarreko Wilson, enjoyed a full a-la-carte menu and were able to discuss a host of topics with the Minister.
Two weeks ago, Mr. Horton was able to watch the students perform a play, based on a true story, called "Fighting the Odds".
The play showed how two ex-parole officers in the United States developed a rehabilitation program in order to help at-risk students rise above their lives of drugs and crime.
Mr. Horton said: "These students demonstrated abilities beyond their years and did justice to a play I feel was as complex as it was entertaining."
"(Drama teacher) Mrs. Ricardo and these students have done us all proud and I know each of them will use their talents and become future leaders no matter what professions they eventually choose."
"I wish them well and thank them for allowing us to see this play through their eyes. I was more than happy to demonstrate our appreciation of them by treating them to lunch."
