Motorcyclist still 'critical'
The Police Commissioner's son remained in critical condition last night after suffering serious head injuries in a road accident.
Andrew Jackson, 27, is reportedly fighting for his life in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital (KEMH) following a collision in Warwick at 8.35 p.m. on Sunday.
The son of Bermuda's Police Commissioner George Jackson, he reportedly lost control of his motorcycle and collided with a wall in Middle Road at the junction with Riddell's Bay Road.
A hospital spokeswoman last night described Mr. Jackson's condition as "critical".
His family did not wish to speak to the media.
There have been 15 fatalities on Bermuda's roads this year – the worst tally of deaths since 17 people lost their lives in accidents in 1998.
Police yesterday appealed to the public to use caution on the roads and to ensure their seat belts and crash helmets were properly fastened.
A spokesman said: "The Bermuda Police Service continues to advise the motoring public to slow down and to use care, caution and courtesy on the Island's roads.
"Additionally, we urge those travelling in cars to use their seat belts at all times and those travelling on motorcycles to fasten their helmets and avoid making a third lane."
Police are also appealing for witnesses to the accident on Sunday.
A spokesman said: "We are also interested in speaking with anyone who may have been with the victim, a 27-year-old Pembroke man, in the 24 hours prior to the collision.
"He remains in the Intensive Care Unit at KEMH in a critical condition."
