PartnerRe pledges $240,000 for schools that help charities
Eight secondary schools will earn $30,000 each when their students team up with local charities under a community project led by PartnerRe Ltd.
Dollars For Hours: Youth and Community in Partnership will distribute a total of $240,000 to public and private schools and give hands-on support to local charities.
Students aged 14 to 18 from CedarBridge Academy, Saltus Grammar School, Somersfield Academy, Berkeley Institute, Bermuda High School, Bermuda Institute, Warwick Academy and Mount Saint Agnes will take part, each school adopting a different project.
Participating charities include Bermuda National Trust, Bermuda Zoological Society, PRIDE, Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences, Keep Bermuda Beautiful, WindReach Recreational Village, Bermuda Audubon Society and Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre.
PartnerRe CEO Patrick Thiele said: "This is the third year that PartnerRe has paired with the secondary schools, bringing our total Dollars for Hours donation to $560,000.00."
Students will complete each task within one or two weekends and PartnerRe will cover the cost of materials, as well as coordinating a showcase for students to share their experiences, once the projects are completed.
