Pedestrian injured on city street crossing

A pedestrian had his foot broken after he was hit by a suspected drunken motorcyclist Tuesday night.

The 47-year-old Pembroke man was on a crossing at the junction of Reid and King streets and the motorcycle was travelling up Spurling Hill when the accident occurred around 10.10 p.m.

"As a result, the pedestrian was thrown onto the sidewalk and the motorcycle collided with a nearby parked motorcycle," said a Police spokesperson. "The 47-year-old Pembroke man sustained a broken right foot and facial injuries. The motorcycle rider, a 39-year-old Pembroke man, sustained head and facial injuries as well as bruising to his right hand. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving."

Both men were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment. According to Police, the motorcycle involved was extensively damaged while the parked motorcycle received moderate damage.
