round of legal action following his enforced redundancy from the Service.

Mr. Perinchief, who has already won the first round of his match against Government, yesterday filed a second writ.

It is aimed at Governor Lord Waddington, Home Affairs Minister Quinton Edness, the Public Service Commission and Commissioner of Police Colin Coxall.

Neither Mr. Perinchief nor his attorney Delroy Duncan were available for comment yesterday about why a second writ was filed.

But it is thought the writ relates to Mr. Perinchief's actual dismissal from the Police Service.

The first case involved the legality of Government's decision to alter the size of the Police Service which resulted in the abolition of Mr. Perinchief's post.

The Supreme Court ruled that Government acted illegally and failed to pass legislative amendments relating to the size of the Police Service and therefore Mr. Perinchief's job was never abolished.

Last night Mr. Edness said: "The court has ruled that the establishment of the Service was not validated, therefore Mr. Perinchief was still employed.

"However, I have not seen the latest writ and therefore cannot make any comment.'' Mr. Perinchief lost his job in January last year when sweeping changes in the Police Service streamlined the hierarchy by removing senior posts including an Assistant Commissioner and one Superintendent.

Last October he won a Supreme Court case when Puisne Judge Norma Wade ruled that his post had not been abolished because no legislation changing the number of officers in the Service was passed.

Government announced it will appeal the decision, but no date has yet been fixed for a hearing.

Mr. Perinchief was made redundant from the Police along with former Supt.

George Rose, who is still considering his legal position.
