Police found man sleeping in his car

A Hamilton Parish man was banned from all vehicles for a year after Police found him asleep at the wheel.

On June 25, Police on Front Street noticed 49-year-old Stanley Correia sleeping in the driver's seat of his parked car with his head on the steering wheel. Police woke the man and noticed that his speech was slurred and he smelled of alcohol.

When asked where the vehicles keys were, Correia said that his wife had taken them, but officers found them sitting on the passenger seat.

He pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to having control of a vehicle while impaired.

The father-of-two was fined $1,000 and given ten demerit points in addition to the driving ban, for the offence.
