Problem with orbiting satellite likely to cause CableVision disruption
An out-of-control satellite might cause disruption to CableVision customers over the next two weeks.
Galaxy 15, one of several satellites that provide feeds to Bermuda and North America, ran into technical problems recently, leaving the satellite's owner, IntelSat, unable to control it.
Over the next two weeks, programming will be switched to a second satellite, but during the process channels may disappear from Bermudian televisions for as much as an hour.
General Manager Terry Roberson said: "We would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused by this transition, which is out of our control."
Because the problems are out of CableVision's control, the company said that they would not be offering refunds for the missing service, but they would be doing everything possible to reduce disruption.
