Punched in face at cricket game

Medical assistance: Police and medics attend to a man who was knocked unconscious during an altercation after the Eastern Counties cricket finals at Lord's Field in St. David's Saturday afternoon.

A man was punched in the face after an argument at St. David's Cricket Club on Saturday night.

Police said the fracas happened at about 7 p.m. and that the victim, a 39-year-old from Smith's, was involved in a verbal dispute with another man who then attacked him.

The victim was treated at the scene for an injury to his nose and taken to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for further treatment.

A Police spokesman said: "The suspect left the scene prior to Police arrival.

"It is unclear at this point if the victim wishes to make a formal complaint. Inquiries are ongoing."
