Recall notices issued
Householders with Homelite Chain Saws or Dymo power adaptors with DYMO® printers should return the products immediately due to safety hazards.
The chain saws are being recalled due to chain brake failure which poses the threat of lacerations.
The DYMO LabelWriter Power Adaptors can overheat the printers.
The Office of Consumer Affairs is advising consumers to return the products following a recall notice by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
The affected chain saws have a manufacture date between November 2007 and August 2008 and were sold through Home Depot stores plus one local retailer.
The model numbers are UT10514-18, 10520, 10540, 10560, and 10918. Products with a green 'dot' sticker however, are not subject to the recall.
While no injuries have been reported to the CPSC, consumers should return the chain saws to the stores or contact Homelite Consumer Products Inc. on (800) 242 4672 or www.homelite.com.
The recalled external power adaptors were sold with DYMO LabelWriter 400 series printers, which include Twin Turbo, Duo and Desktop Mailing Solution with housing date codes 2407, 2507, 2607, 2707.
Power adaptors with 'RoHS' on the product label are not included in the recall.
Although no injuries have been reported, DYMO has received 11 reports of printers overheating and emitting smoke and a burnt smell.
The products were sold by local office supply stores and consumers are advised to unplug them from wall sockets and printers.
If they contact the retailer they will receive a free replacement external power adaptor kit. Alternatively, contact DYMO toll-free at (888) 658 3904 or log onto: www.dymo.com.
