Regiment letter probe continues
Bermuda Regiment letter has not yet unearthed a culprit, a senior officer has revealed.
The Royal Gazette reported last month that Senior British loan service officer Major D.C. Napier of the Royal Anglian Regiment wrote a letter to an officer in the UK accusing the Opposition of playing politics with the Bermuda Regiment.
The letter was brought to public attention by Labour, Home Affairs and Public Safety Shadow minister Alex Scott.
As a result of the leak, which Maj. Napier termed a "military offence'', Regiment officials planned to conduct an investigation to expose the culprit.
But when contacted yesterday, Maj. Napier said the investigation was "ongoing'' and had produced little information.
"Nothing has turned up, nor do I expect it to,'' he said. "It's almost impossible to track the person down, and we're probably just going to let it die.'' Lt. Col. Patrick Outerbridge did not return phone calls yesterday.
