Road ban for refusing a breath test
A Devonshire man was banned from driving for a year after refusing to give Police a breath sample.
Keith DeShields, 49, from Loyal Hills Pass, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court on Thursday to refusing to give a breath sample after being involved in a single vehicle accident on July 24.
Police attended an accident near Loyal Hill, Devonshire, where they found DeShields rocking on his feet and smelling strongly of alcohol. When asked if he had been drinking, DeShields reportedly told officers: "I had a lot of drinks."
When asked to give a breath sample, DeShields refused.
In court, DeShields apologised to Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner who banned him from driving all motor vehicles for a year. DeShields was also fined $1,000 and given ten demerit points.
