Two people were rescued by an oil tanker yesterday as they abandoned their yacht 200 miles northeast of the Island.

The American sailors were picked up by an oil tanker heading from Philadelphia to Nigeria after spotting their flare signals around lunch time.

Further details could not be confirmed last night, but Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre said the oil tanker was now bringing the sailors to Bermuda. It's thought they were not seriously injured.
