A story on Page 5 of yesterday's Royal Gazette incorrectly identified the victim of a stalking incident as the wife of the defendant. The complainant has never been married to Mr. Albuoy. In addition, Mr. Albouy's name is Troy and not Tony.

A convicted stalker dodged prison time yesterday after breaching a court order barring any contact with his wife.

Thirty-one-year-old Tony Albouy pleaded guilty to stalking after trying to speak to his wife while she was at work, then following her home, Magistrates' court heard.

At the time, he was bound over by the courts on the condition he had no contact with the complainant.

He was handed a nine-month sentence, suspended, and slammed with a $3,800 fine.

Crown counsel Gravney Bannister said his wife was working at a Southampton pub when Albouy showed up and wanted to talk.

Mr. Bannister said Albouy, of Parsons Road, Pembroke, wrote the letters `OJ' on his palm. When she asked what it meant, Albouy replied: "OJ Simpson''.

Then Albouy followed her home, flashing his lights in her rear-view mirror and blocking her off twice along Devon Heights Road.

It was also alleged that, at one point, Albouy approached her in her car and threatened to kill her after taking her keys.

Albouy denied the charges, but still pleaded guilty.

Defence counsel Larry Mussenden said the couple re-initiated a relationship because they have `liberal' custody of their children.

Family court had allowed Albouy to see his children, but Magistrates court levied an order saying he could not be in contact, of any kind, with the defendant.

Mr. Mussenden said the order did not take into consideration the "feelings of the heart''.

He said the order was "black and white'', but Albouy's desire was too much.

"It's a matter of the heart, despite what's on paper,'' he added.

Mr. Mussenden argued the relationship was initiated by the children's mother and the couple still had feelings for each other.

Mr. Warner said: "This is a serious threat. He threatened to kill her in a particular way.'' More court news, Page 8 & 9
