Teens charged in –armed burglary
Two teenagers appeared at Magistrates' Court yesterday morning charged with committing a burglary and serious assault while armed with a firearm, knife and bottle.
Detre Ford, 16, and Clarke Fox, 17, are said to have stolen $13,500 worth of goods during the alleged incident at a home in Curving Avenue, Pembroke, on Wednesday June 17.
The items listed as stolen include $5,000 of cash, a $5,000 gold pendant, a $3,500 gold chain plus other gold jewellery, a laptop computer and two PlayStation computers. In addition, they are accused of wounding Jahdean Gibbons with intent to do him grievous bodily harm and also unlawfully wounding him.
The pair are accused of committing the offences together with others, and a final charge accuses them of conspiring with others to use a firearm to commit the alleged aggravated burglary.
Ford, of St. George's Parish and Fox, of Pembroke, were not required to enter pleas since the matter must be dealt with at the Supreme Court.
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo granted each defendant $5,000 bail on the condition that they obey an overnight curfew, surrender their travel documents and do not contact each other or witnesses in the case. They must return to court next month.
Later yesterday, at Juvenile Court, a 15-year-old boy faced the same charges in connection with the same incident. The boy, whose name cannot be published due to his age, pleaded not guilty.
He will go on trial at Youth Court in August, and was remanded into custody in the meantime.
