The 31-year-old woman struggled violently with the man after he grabbed her hand bag from her shoulder shortly after midnight in a restaurant car park in Somerset.

She kept a tight grip suffering cuts and abrasions as she was dragged along the ground still holding onto the bag, a Police spokesman said.

The man broke free but two restaurant employees gave chase and recovered the bag.

Police later arrested a 26-year-old Sandys Parish man in connection with the incident.
