across some stolen Government property.

And after reporting the discovery to Police, the nine-year-old West End Primary School student was rewarded for his honesty.

Travon yesterday told The Royal Gazette that he was spending the day at a friend's house when he found two wooden benches, a canvas tent and metal frame hidden under some bushes in a corner of the Royal Naval Recreation Field in Somerset.

Although Travon said he had a feeling the items were stolen, he had no idea they belonged to the Ministry of Works & Engineering.

Government workers had reported the theft from a job site at nearby Daniel's Head just a few days earlier.

And when Travon returned to school on Monday morning, he decided to do his part in solving the crime.

He told his school secretary who then contacted the Somerset Police Station.

P.c. Kevin Christopher met up with Travon and together the pair drove to the field to recover the missing goods.

"It was just the right thing to do,'' Travon said yesterday.

Appreciating his keen detective work, P.c. Christopher rewarded Travon with both a walkie-talkie set and chocolate.
