14th Sand Sculpture competition next week
Sand sculptors and sandcastle makers will again get to showcase their talents as the 14th annual Bermuda International Sand Sculpture Competition will take place over Cup Match weekend.
From July 26 to August 1, Bermuda will welcome back Team Sandtastic from Florida.
This team of professional sand sculptors will work their magic with Bermuda's pink sand to create stunning works of art that will provide buzz and excitement for our visitors and residents.
Director of Tourism Billy Griffith said, "The Sand Sculpture competition was started 14 years ago by the Institute of Bermuda Architects spear headed by Nicky Gurret. This event has grown and we have seen the number of participants and spectators increase over the years."
The 14th Annual Bermuda International Sand Sculpture Competition takes place on August 1 at Horseshoe Bay, Southampton and all are invited to enter.
This is a free competition and provides an opportunity to win lots of prizes; no experience is necessary. For more information, please telephone either Mrs. Gurret at 295-4597 or the Department of Tourism at 292-0023.
Team Sandtastic will also be show casing their talent at Gates Bay Park (Fort St. Catherine Beach) July 27th and 28th, and at the Fairmont Southampton's beach — July 29th.
