Airport now has free wireless Internet

Free wireless Internet is now available in the departure and restaurant areas of L.F. Wade International Airport.

Yesterday the Ministry of Tourism and Transport and the Department of Airport Operations held a press conference to launch the project that was initiated in conjunction with Rock Media Advertising Ltd.

The new broadband Internet "hot spot" was installed and activated on June 26, 2008 by Rock Media Ltd.

Aaron Adderley, L. F. Wade International Airport General Manager said wireless Internet was just one way the facility was seeking to provide better service.

"We are quite happy that the services have been introduced. I think for the discerning traveller of today they have come to expect these types of services and amenities.

"It's part and parcel to improve the options and services in food, beverage and retail.

"This is the start of a couple more initiatives we plan to introduce in the coming months in an attempt to impose the overall experience of travellers coming through the airport.

"We have an airport facility that is ageing and it certainly has its limitations so to the extent we can improve it we will do that."

Premier Ewart Brown who is also the Minister of Tourism and Transport added that both business and luxury travellers now expected this service.

He said: "This is a fantastic customer service enhancement for L.F. Wade International Airport.

"Not long ago this was a luxury for business travellers only, but these days both business and leisure travellers expect easy access to the Internet whenever they travel and I'm proud that our airport can offer it to them."
