Bank of Bermuda donates $15,000 to Salvation Army

The Bank of Bermuda Foundation has donated more than $15,000 to the Salvation Army to provide food hampers and basic necessities for Bermuda's needy.

Foundation Director and Secretary, David Lang, said: "Providing food and basic necessities to individuals and families in need is a cause that must be supported and sustained not just during the Christmas season, but throughout the year.

"We understand the challenges that charities and organisations like the Salvation Army face when it comes to funding and we hope that our contribution can ensure that these programmes remain active and inspire the public to volunteer their time toward such a vital service."

Major Douglas Lewis, Divisional Commander of the Salvation Army, said: "Once again, thanks to the generosity of the Bank of Bermuda Foundation and Butterfield and Vallis, everyone that has registered for a Christmas hamper will receive either a turkey or a chicken. This is a significant contribution that is not taken for granted and will surely make the tradition of Christmas dinner a reality for many people."

Butterfield and Vallis partnered with the Bank of Bermuda Foundation by providing the food and goods for the hampers at reduced cost.
