Beachgoers robbed

Two robberies took place on Warwick Long Bay within minutes of each other on Tuesday afternoon.

Police report that around 12.30 p.m. and 12.45 p.m. respectively a group of locals and later a visiting couple were approached on the beach by a man with a bladed weapon. In both cases he demanded money.

In the first instance the man escaped with a Nokia cellular phone, in the second a quantity of cash; none of the victims were injured.

The suspect is described as a brown skinned male with a close haircut, about 5'7" to 5'10" tall, wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and white and black sneakers.

Inquiries into this incident are underway and police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact the Somerset Criminal Investigation Unit on 234-1010.
