A 49-year-old motorcyclist was taken to hospital after he lost control of his bike and collided with a wall Sunday morning.

The Devonshire resident was treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, and subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

According to officers the accident occurred at 2.15 a.m. on North Shore Road in Devonshire, near the junction with Barkers Hill.

Said a spokesperson: "The Devonshire man sustained abrasions to his feet and a fractured left shoulder."

The motorcycle received only minor damage.

Inquiries into the incident are underway.
