Colleague stole debit card
Bang Bang hair salon assistant, Shanteerah Stovell, admitted stealing her co-worker's debit card to go shopping, a court heard.
Magistrates' Court heard from Senior Crown counsel Paula Tyndale that Stovell's co-worker left work on Thursday, December 4, to go Christmas shopping and realised her debit card was missing from her purse. After retracing her steps she called the bank to have her card cancelled.
The next day she called the bank to verify her account information and was told her balance was zero and that three transactions had been performed on her account.
Stovell was identified as the person who stole the card and was arrested in connection with the theft.
She admitted taking the card and then buying jewellery, toys and other gifts totalling $285.99 from one store and buying shoes and a dress worth $226.99.
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo bailed Stovell pending pre-sentencing reports.
