DAB rejects Stocks Harbour Marina plan

A planned 215-berth marina has been rejected by the Development Application Board over concerns that it may harm the local turtle population.
The Stocks Harbour Marina, which would have been built on Bermuda Land Development Company property just East of the Swing Bridge in St. George's, was originally proposed in 2008.
The facility was supposed to feature a series of floating docks capable of withstanding Category Four hurricane conditions, and would offer utilities including telecommunications, water and electricity to a wide variety of boats.
However, despite a reduction in the number of parking spaces from 40 to 24, the DAB expressed concerns that the project would have destroyed sea grass habitats.
