Hurricane force gusts are predicted

The Minister of Home Affairs urged the public to take precautions as more hurricane force winds are predicted for this afternoon.

Storm force winds between 40 to 50 knots are expected late afternoon with hurricane force gusts up to 65 knots according to the Bermuda Weather Service.

The Causeway bridge will be closely monitored by Bermuda Police Service and the Ministry of Works Engineering and the public will be notified should it be closed due to deteriorating weather conditions.

The Minister of Labour, Home Affairs and Housing, Senator David Burch encouraged the public to take precautions such as securing all boats, outdoor furniture, garbage bins and any other items that could be blown about by the wind.

And Minister Burch encouraged all motorists, particularly cyclists to use "extreme caution" when moving about the Island tomorrow.
