Man threatened to kill his wife and daughter
A man who threatened to kill his wife and 16-year-old daughter told Magistrates' Court that his actions were completely out of character.
The 45-year-old Paget man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to two counts of threatening words.
According to prosecutor Karen King, on November 14, Police went to a Paget home in response to an anonymous 911 call. When they got there, they found a mother and daughter, both appearing very scared and pleading for help.
They told Police that they had been watching a film on television when the defendant entered the room and began to scream angrily.
He allegedly told his wife and daughter: "I'm going to kill tonight. You are going to die. Do not go to sleep, I will kill you."
Appearing at Magistrates' Court in custody, the defendant admitted threatening his family, but said: "I have never done anything like this before. It was completely out of character.
'They were idle threats. It was a part of an ongoing argument that got out of hand."
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined the defendant a total of $1,000 for the two offences.
