Man twice-over drink drive limit told Police he was trying to park his car
A Southampton man had his licence suspended after pleading guilty to operating a vehicle with a blood-alcohol level more than double the legal limit.
Thomas Marshall, 24, of Newport Gardens Southampton, apologised to Magistrates' Court for the incident.
Crown counsel Takiyah Burgess said that around 4.20 a.m. on August 8, Police on patrol in Southampton noticed a stationary car in the westbound lane of Middle Road with its caution light on.
Officers approached the car and found Marshall inside the vehicle and the keys in the ignition. He told the officers that he was trying to park the vehicle, but it wasn't starting.
When tested by Police, Marshall was found to have 208 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood, well over the legal limit of 80 mg.
Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner suspended him from driving all vehicles for a year. Mr. Warner also fined Marshall $1,000 and gave him 10 demerit points.
