Motorcyclist is attacked and robbed near City Hall
A Warwick man was robbed and assaulted by thieves who made off with cash and personal items.
The 44-year-old said he was riding his motorcycle west along Victoria Street, by City Hall car park, at 9.15 p.m. on Saturday, when two men overtook him on a motorcycle and cut him off.
The passenger on the bike got off and demanded money from the victim. He proceeded to punch him in his face and body.
The victim gave the man his wallet which contained cash and personal items. Both suspects escaped on their motorcycle heading north on Wesley Street.
Police were informed of the robbery Sunday morning.
The motorcycle rider is described as a black male aged in his early 20s and of slim build. At the time he was wearing grey pants and a black helmet. The passenger was about 5ft 9in, also in his early 20s. Of large build, he was wearing a white T-shirt, light yellow pants and a black helmet.
Police are appealing for witnesses to contact the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 295 0011.
