Police appeal for witnesses to shooting
Police are appealing for information following the shooting of a 44-year-old Sandys man on Friday afternoon.
Just after 5.10 p.m., Police responded to a shooting outside the Charing Cross Tavern near the junction of Somerset Road and Cambridge Road. The victim of the shooting was in stable condition last night at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital's Intensive Care Unit.
Meanwhile, a Police spokesman said that there is a robust Police presence in the West End following the incident.
More information about Police activity in the lead-up to Cup Match is expected to be given during a press briefing on Tuesday.
Assistant Commissioner of Police David Mirfield asked for anyone with information on Friday's shooting to come forward.
Of particular interest are anyone who was in the Charing Cross Tavern, or in the area nearby, at the time of the shooting or anyone who may have seen a man wearing a white T-shirt on a grey motorcycle riding away from the scene.
He said: "Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Serious Crime unit on 299-8121 or the independent confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda hot line on 800-8477."
