Premier Brown will host Farewell Gala in September
Premier Ewart Brown and his wife Wanda are hosting a Farewell Gala to mark the end of his tenure as Bermuda's leader.
Save the date notifications were sent out last week telling people the weekend event will take place from September 10 to 13.
Last year Dr. Brown, who is also Minister of Tourism and Transport, announced he would not seek another four year term as leader of the Progressive Labour Party and Bermuda.
The party will be holding a leadership contest to decide the next Premier of Bermuda this October, currently Deputy Premier Paula Cox is considered a shoo-in for the position according to party insiders.
The post of Deputy Premier, which she would vacate, is more uncertain as are the posts of Minister of Tourism and Minister of Transport.
Dr. Brown has said he will also be stepping down as a Member of Parliament in October, which means a by-election to replace him will have to take place.
The save the date cards, which were on Progressive Labour Party letterhead, said there will be a green and white beach party on September 10, and a golf tournament or 'First Lady's Luncheon' the next day, followed by the gala reception and banquet.
On Sunday, September 12, there will be a morning church service and the 'Premier's Platinum and Gold Dinner. On Monday, the final day of the four day event, there will be a 'Premier's Sponsor/Celebrity Brunch Cruise'.
The notification did not state how much tickets to the event will be or where it will be held.
