Principals reassigned
A shuffle will take place among four primary schools as principals get moved and one retires.
The Ministry of Education announced the move yesterday morning.
Education Commissioner Wendy McDonell said the administrative transfers will take place in September with the principals being moved "to facilitate and promote site renewal and professional growth, offering a wealth of experience and knowledge to their new settings".
A Ministry statement said: "In keeping with the mission of putting children first, the Department maintains its focus on accountability, improved student outcomes and the implementation of the Cambridge Curriculum.
"School Site Leadership is one of the key strategic priorities, thus principals are valued as an integral part of the system."
Education Minister El James fully supported the transfers and said: "This should be a great opportunity for Principals to hone their craft in new Environments."
Principals will be reassigned are:
¦ Gladstone Thompson will transfer to St. David's Primary, from Dalton E Tucker
¦ Kimberly Creighton moves to Elliot Primary, from St. David's Primary
¦ Gloria Martin transfers to Dalton E. Tucker Primary, from Francis Patton Primary
¦ Dr. Gina Tucker moves to Francis Patton Primary from the Department of Education
¦ Cathy Bassett, of Elliot Primary, will retire after 27 years of service to the school system.
An Education spokesman said the re-shuffling happens every few years and it gives principals a chance to renew and be somewhere different.
