A Westgate prisoner has been charged with possessing cannabis inside the correctional facility.

Roger Lightbourne Jr., 19, denies the allegation.

The crime is alleged to have been committed on December 21, 2009.

No details about the circumstances or the amount of cannabis were given when Lightbourne, of St. David's, appeared at Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo remanded him into custody until his trial on May 27.
