Reggae radio station, Irie 98.3 FM, on air
A 24-hour dedicated reggae radio station was formally launched today in the shape of Irie 98.3 FM.
The channel, formerly operating as KJAZ on 98.1, will feature local and international reggae artists performing "all forms of high quality reggae and music programming", according to owner Ben Fairn.
Magician Mr Magic is the morning host, with news updates five minutes before the hour and 25 minutes after the hour during the morning show.
Mr Fairn said in a press release yesterday: "Reggae is a genre that crosses all ages, and based on our research we expect the station to quickly find itself in the top tier position in the market with the largest overall audience.
"Radio is a powerful medium and reggae has strong emotional ties to its listeners. Through this combination we can deliver an exceptionally attentive and dedicated audience to our sponsors and advertisers."
