Shooting timeline since May 2009

Nine people in Bermuda have been shot in just 23 days.The most recent spate of violence saw four people shot over the Easter holiday weekend. It started with the shooting of Kimwandae Walker on Good Friday. The father-of-two was murdered while flying kites with his children at Victor Scott Primary School in Pembroke.Twenty-eight people have been shot since May 2009. Mr. Walker's killing was the seventh gun death on the Island in the last 12 months.

The most recent spate of violence saw four people shot over the Easter holiday weekend. It started with the shooting of Kimwandae Walker on Good Friday. The father-of-two was murdered while flying kites with his children at Victor Scott Primary School in Pembroke.

Twenty-eight people have been shot since May 2009. Mr. Walker's killing was the seventh gun death on the Island in the last 12 months.

Those killed include:

l Kenwandee "Wheels" Robinson, 27, who was murdered on St. Monica's Road, Pembroke on May 22, 2009;

l Kumi Harford, 30, who was murdered on St. Monica's Road on December 5, 2009;

l Gary "Fingaz" Cann, 22, who was murdered on Sound View Road, Sandys, on December 15, 2009;

l Shane Minors, 27, who was murdered on Friswells Hill, Pembroke, on December 17, 2009;

l Perry Puckerin, 32, who was murdered at the Hamilton Workingmen's Club, in Hamilton Parish, on January 3, 2010;

l James Lawes, 26, was murdered on Dundonald Street, Pembroke, on March 19, 2010.

Nobody has been charged with any of the murders.

The last three weeks have seen an unprecedented rate of shootings:

l On March 13 a 16-year-old boy from Warwick was shot in the upper body during a party at Bermuda College. He was taken to hospital and discharged the same day.

l On March 19 Mr. Lawes, 26, was murdered. Maurice Martin and Robin Stovell were also shot as the three congregated outside Place's Place on Dundonald Street.

l On March 27 Jakai Harford, 27, was shot on Mission Lane, Pembroke. It was the second time he had been shot. The first shooting occurred at a Boxing Day party in 2007.

l On April 2 Mr. Walker, 35, was murdered.

l On Saturday Shawn Williams, 18, was shot at the Royal Artillery Association club in St. George's.

l Yesterday 39-year-old Antoine Tuzo and a 17-year-old girl were shot on St. John's Road, in Pembroke, outside of Western Stars Community Club.
