A 17-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder over the weekend shooting at Ice Queen.

The teenager, from Pembroke, had been in Magistrates' Court for an unrelated drugs matter, for which he had a trial date set.

As he emerged from court, he was detained by the Serious Crime Unit.

It is the first reported arrest over the early-hours incident outside the popular Paget takeout restaurant.

The victim, a 22-year-old Warwick man, was shot in the chest. Police have not revealed his identity, but said his injuries are not life threatening.

The suspect was taken to Hamilton Police Station after his arrest.
