A woman who admitted swearing and spitting at Police was fined $1000 in Magistrates' Court.

Victoria Wilkinson pleaded guilty to offensive words and behaviour. However the 21-year-old told Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner she needed more time to pay the fine because she was going on a cruise.

Crown Counsel Cindy Clarke said Police were on duty on Crow Lane around 2.22 a.m. on October 2 when they saw a grey car travelling east.

As the car passed the officers, Wilkinson pushed her head and arm out the window and shouted: "F**k you, Police", while giving the officers the finger.

Police stopped the vehicle at the junction of Point Finger Road and South Road.

Wilkinson continued to spout obscenities while spitting at the officers. Once removed from the car, she said: "I turned 21 yesterday. I drink alcohol. F**k you all."

Mr. Warner fined Wilkinson $500 or 50 days imprisonment for using offensive words. He fined her another $500 or 50 days imprisonment for offensive behaviour. She was given until November 8 to pay, but asked the court for additional time, saying: "I'm going on a cruise."

Mr. Warner denied her request.

"You're telling me that you need more time to pay, and you're going on a cruise?

"The fine must be paid by November 8 or face 50 days in prison. Think about how that will affect your travel plans."
