Taxi drivers have begged Premier Paula Cox not to burden them with any additional taxes in her Budget on Friday. The campaign group Concerned Group of Bermuda Taxi Operators made the plea as they outlined a lengthy list of concerns about the state of their industry this afternoon.Chief organiser of the group Terrence Flood said for the past four years under the Ewart Brown Government, “the taxi industry has been under siege”.Now, they are having meetings with new Transport Minister Terry Lister, and hoping he will assist with their list of requests. These include tax breaks, fuel rebates and assistance with additional security measures, as well as protection from minibuses, which they view as unfair competition.
