Injured motocross youngster is all set to leave hospital
A young motocross biker is scheduled to leave hospital today after being injured during racing practice.Nine-year-old Jayden Smith was kept in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after tumbling from his bike during a February 16 practice at the Southside Motorsports Park track.Parents Jason and Suzana Ming, along with sisters Tiffani and Brittni, have rallied around him since.Mrs Ming said her son can’t wait to get back out on the race track.“Jayden is very resilient and bounces back quickly. The doctors have given him a date and he’s very willing to get right back out and start doing what he loves again. He’s in good spirits and the doctor says they just got the biggest smile they’ve seen out of him yet.”The Pembroke boy came off his bike just a few days after coming top of his class in races on February 13.Mrs Ming said: “Jayden’s a very confident rider on his bike. He knows what he’s doing and he always wears safety gear from head to toe.”Bermuda Motocross president Jonathan Trott said: “There are injuries in any motor sport, but these kids are very well protected. We take every precaution. At the end of the day, racing is what we love to do, and every kid down there lives for it.”
