Conference a shot in the arm for tourism and IB sectors
Premier Paula Cox said today that the OECD Global Forum in Bermuda this year will provide a shot in the arm for both the Island’s tourism and international business sectors.The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development has sent out official invitations to the Global Forum’s full membership of 97 countries for the May 31 to June 1 event, the Premier said in a statement.“That the OECD has now issued the official invitation means a lot to both our tourism and international business sectors,” Premier Cox said.“As we speak the movers and shakers of global finance administration, including several leading players in the G20, are booking their Bermuda hotel reservations.“They will be googling Bermuda and learning about our jurisdiction, business and tourism infrastructure, before they come.”She said Bermudians, including entertainers, restaurateurs and Harbour Nights vendors would benefit from the event, which will involve discussions on international tax information exchange.
