Smith and Wade-Fray named top athletes

Rising track star Tyrone Smith and Jenaya Wade-Fray have been crowned Male and Female Athletes of the Year respectively after beating out fellow nominees for the awards.Smith beat off challenges from triathlete Tyler Butterfield and Aaron Evans last night at the Southampton Princess.Smith became only the second Bermudian athlete to claim a gold medal at the CAC Games by winning the men’s long jump in Puerto Rico last summer.Wade-Fray took home the top female award, beating out former winners Flora Duffy and Kiera Aitken for the top prize.Wade-Fray became the first bermudian woman basketball player to represent Great Britain as they look to qualify for this year’s Eurobasket Championships in Poland.
