Tributes have been paid at Canada's Cape Breton University to gun victim Randy Robinson.A keen footballer, Mr Robinson is mourned by his coach and former team mates at the Capers men's soccer team, where he played for one season in 2009.Mr Robinson, 22, returned to Bermuda for the birth of his son, now two years old. The midfield player with North Village Rams was cut down by gunfire on March 31.Capers head coach Robbie Chiasson criticised Bermuda's gang culture in the Cape Breton Post, telling the newspaper: “Looking back I know it was kind of out of my control but you feel that if he was still here he might still be alive today.”He said other Bermuda-born members of the football team usually didn't discuss gun violence at home, but recently had been talking about difficulties in their home country.Mr Chiasson said: “It is tough to be a young person there. These guys don't even want to go home, really. They know that life is good here and there is a lot of violence at home whether you are in a gang or not.”The head coach recalled Mr Robinson as an enthusiastic and talented young player: “He liked to play with the ball with his feet and he was an attacking player and always liked to dribble.”
