Looking after your body and soul

The First Church of Christ Scientist has proposed a plan for a hybrid gym and church building perfect for those who believe their body is a temple. The proposed four-story building at 33 Cedar Avenue, across the road from Victoria Park, would feature three floors of gym space with space for free weights and a spinning room, with changing facilities in a basement area. However, the top floor of the building will be dedicated to the church, with a lobby area and a large Assembly of Christian Science Reading Room.Outside the building, the site would feature a garden to the south of the property with a path and palm trees, and a small parking area with several motorcycle spaces. The application for the building was received by the Planning Department on March 29, and is now available for viewing at the department’s office in the new Dame Lois Browne-Evans building.Meanwhile, the Bermuda Mental Health Foundation has submitted an application to planning to demolish their building on Portland Lane in Sandys and replace it with four new dwelling units.
