A sharp drop on the stairs leading to Elbow Beach will be repaired soon, the Parks Department has said.The public access to the popular beach was damaged during Hurricane Igor last September, and undermined by the rough winter weather.Parks officer Craig Burt said: “Island Construction temporarily rebuilt the stairs for the general public after Igor, but during the winter we had an increase in erosion that washed away at it. Fixing the stairs has gone out to tender, and now we’re just waiting to select a company.”He said the work should start “in the next few weeks”.“It will definitely be ready by the summer,” he added.
