Possible water supply reduction in central areas

An upgrade to the Tynes Bay Seawater Desalination plant could cause a temporary reduction in water to homes on the central distribution system in three parishes.Work on the plant is now being done, and is expected to last until April 30, Government has announced. The work may cause a reduction in the water service levels for trucking companies and homes in Pembroke, Devonshire and Hamilton over the next ten days, a spokesman said.He added: “The potential reduction is due to work being undertaken in preparation for the expansion from the existing level of production from 500,000 Imperial gallons per day to 1,000,000 Imperial gallons per day.“This work will provide greater reliability in the operations of the existing facility and in turn provide for better service in the future.”Government apologised for any inconvenience the work might cause the public.
