New poll reveals little desire for Independence

Seventy percent of people are opposed to Independence, according to the latest poll from Mindmaps.That represents a slight dip from 73 percent in the previous poll in January, with the number in favour increasing from 14 percent to 16 percent. Fourteen percent said they were not sure if they want to split from Britain.Support is highest among blacks, but the 23 percent of blacks in favour are easily outnumbered by the 59 percent of blacks against. Among whites, seven percent are in favour and 84 percent against.People aged over 65 are most likely to support Independence, with 23 percent in favour, compared to 13 percent of 18- to 34-year-olds.Men were more in support of Independence than women, with 20 percent in favour compared to 13 percent.The poll of 402 registered voters took place between March 29 and April 8 and has a margin of error of 4.9 percent.
