Premier honoured for political accomplishments
Premier Paula Cox has been lauded at the Third Biennial Women’s Empowerment Summit in the Bahamas.Ms Cox, who gave the conference’s keynote address yesterday in Nassau, was named Regional Female Leader of the Year.The summit organisers, Oyster Publications Ltd, said Ms Cox was chosen not just for her contributions to politics, but for the progress of women in that field and for the number of women in her administration.Ms Cox said: “I am honoured to be chosen as a standard-bearer for both leadership and the progress of women in the political arena.“I believe it is the work we do today that reflects on the passage of tomorrow, and I am certainly encouraged by the recognition given by my peers.”Other international speakers at the one-day summit included US author Lisa Nichols, and Nicole Avant, US Ambassador to the Bahamas.Useful web link: www.womensesummit.com.
